Active membership is the lifeblood of our associations. As described by NGAUS, the strength of the association for the last 140 years has been its united membership. As the voice of the National Guard on Capitol Hill, NGAUS provides a path by which National Guard officers can elevate their local concerns to a national and influential audience in Washington, D.C. Association members provide the backbone and guidance NGAUS needs as it ensures the National Guard receives the best and latest equipment; maintains readiness through comprehensive personnel initiatives; receives proper missions as part of the total force; and fights for equitable retirement programs that give Guardsmen the support they have earned.
The NGAUS “Early Bird” rebate for 2024 will be for any dues collected and turned in to NGAUS prior to 31 March 2024. Funds collected and turned in to NGAUS prior to this date will result in a significant financial benefit to our state organization and provide us the flexibility to support this organization throughout the year. As such, dues collection is encouraged as early as possible into this fiscal year. However, we will continue to collect dues through 31 December 2024. Please note our total paid membership as of 30 June 2024 is used to determine delegate seating at the National Convention, so all memberships paid prior to that date have significant benefits to our organization both at local and national levels.
The goal this year is to attain 100% annual membership. Securing the membership of every commissioned officer and warrant officer is vital to the successful attainment of our goal. In 2023, South Dakota attained 100% overall membership for the 24th consecutive year, and we are very confident we will keep this impressive streak alive in 2024!
